virginia wedding photographer / kate and greg / leesburg

i’m pretty sure no one thought snow would be an issue to consider for an october wedding in leesburg, virginia… but it was. i already knew kate and greg were two incredibly awesome people since photographing their engagement session earlier in the year, but the snow didn’t phase them one bit. if anything it seemed to just get them more excited. i could go on and on about how amazing this whole day was, but really – the pictures say more than i ever could.

  • Really incredible wedding! I think the snow made it that much more magical. Congrats Kate and Greg!

I love the portraits of the groomsman behind the bars! Oh and this one….WTFPIC: https://www.samhurdphotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/40-virginia-wedding-photographer.jpg

  • This is my favorite wedding you’ve captured! The snow in these photos looks so magical! GAH! Well done!

  • SO damn cool, Sam!! It’s funny- I met Kate on a music website several months ago. Through conversation, we discovered that you’d be photographing her wedding. I was all– “I know him (online at least)!” Been waiting to see this. Your work rocks, but this is even cooler than I could have imagined!

Sam, as the father of the bride I must say you did a magnificent job, especially under dicey and unexpected conditions – snow in October. Kate is my only daughter to give away in this lifetime and I am glad you were there to capture the magic of that day.

  • Such a beautiful wedding! Love their portraits in the snow!

  • Dude, these photos are freakin’ spectacular! Too bad it doesn’t snow here all the time, right? Flippin’ out over all the little frozen snow bits in the landscapes and portraits. Looooove this set.

It’s impossible to portray the happiness that these pictures bring to me in such a small space. The second best decision of our wedding (getting married being the 1st) was having you capture this day. I can not believe the story you have told here. I am happy to say that this is better than even a video could have captured. Thank you for doing such a beautiful job. I look forward to these pictures being a part of our home for the next 60 years.

  • This is probably my favorite wedding of yours that I’ve seen. You killed it, and should make it snow at every wedding.

  • you absolutely killed it. i think without a doubt the best winter wedding ive seen. well done sir.

  • Definitely my favorite one you’ve done. I have few words to describe this wedding, and they all rhyme with “awesome”

  • Absolutley fantastic coverage! I love it:)

  • This is SUCH a cool wedding! Kate and Greg look like great fun. Congrats guys!
    Amazing work Sam

  • These are so amazing! I looove snow weddings. The contrast of the pretty white snow photos and the warmth of the inside of the venue is so dreamy!!

  • Wow, incredible, gorgeous wedding. You made snow look warm and inviting!

  • Oh wow…I want a snow wedding so bad…these shots are freeking AWESOME!! I LOVE how you put everything together. There are so many EPIC shots here…well done!!!

  • Holy hell this wedding is balls to the wall crazy good!!!!

  • You are on a different level. Every shot is amazing. BTW, I want a print of the last photo. 🙂

  • What I love most about your work is that the images themselves are well-composed, fresh, and creative, yet you never lose that emotional connection to your clients or their stories. And to top it all off, your post-processing is artistic without being obtrusive. It’s a hard balance to strike (on all fronts) but you have been so consistently on your game lately. This is one of my absolute favorite weddings of yours, and it’s definitely my favorite snowy wedding I’ve ever seen. Job well done, my friend! (Also, an aside — if you’re going to be in the DC area over New Years, the Oberports would LOVE to get together!!!).

  • The snow is beyond fabulous! I am so so jealous!

  • Image # 40 = wwwwooooooowwwwww. Really super-fun wedding images.

  • Lovely work, Sam. Gorgeous from start to finish!

  • Exceptional work Sam! You’ve captured and told such a great story. Love the snow shots. And that image (#68) of the father of the bride … a-maze-ing!

  • Ummm. Goosebumps. This is incredible. For a girl that only saw snow for the first time last year, I’m blown away by these images, it is SUCH a beautiful wedding. I adore all the shots but particularly the single one of the bride in the snow by the beautifully rusty leafed tree. Oh what I’d give to shoot in snow now! 🙂

  • Snow! It makes my heart sing with joy but it also makes my heart ache with sadness – this is where snow has been hiding this winter. This is my absolute favorite wedding from you. Yes, I may be partial because of the snow, but really. Breathtakingly beautiful.

  • Stunning work, dude. The snow shots are beyond beautiful.

  • O.M.G. Sam Hurd. These shots are amazing. I particularly love how you used the tilt shift in the shot with the bright orange tree in the background, I love all the shots of their first look and pretty much all the great moments of their getting ready.

Oh, and I love her dress.

Pretty much love everything you did and everything related to this entire wedding.

  • Laurie Levine

Beautiful day for a beautiful couple.

  • Beautiful location!! Great shots 🙂

  • Holy crap, this wedding is out of control! Awesome!

  • Wow, all this is stunning. Some of the best party pictures I have seen.
