01. What are your rates?

Wedding coverage by Sam starts at $4,900. Reach out via the Contact Page and I’ll follow up with full pricing and entire wedding galleries for review. I promise, after the initial email everything is quick and easy!

02. What is your approach?

I go out of my way to make the experience of being photographed as comfortable and natural as possible. I shoot with as little equipment as I possibly can, and usually by myself. I make sure you never feel like you’re on display, or that it’s a huge awkward production of lights, light stands, and assistants everywhere. It’s just me, you, my camera, and a few lenses. I do bring experimental and vintage gear to play around with (and an entire backup kit), but I operate an efficient setup for any given situation.

03. Do you have client reviews?

Yes, they’re spread out randomly across the internet if you want to search.

Here, I will share a letter I recently received:

For Sam,

Instead of writing a review about Sam, I would like to instead just write a personal letter of my appreciation for you as a person.
Sam, you are an inspiring human being.  Everyone recognizes your talent as a photographer, but what truly makes you unique is your approach to life and the meaningful connections you make with others.  This happened to take place on our wedding day, but even outside of this day, it is so evident how much you care about the people you work with and the relentless drive to always continue excellence. You have a gift of forming genuine relationships which speaks volumes to your character.  The amount of effort you put forth in connecting at an honest and heartfelt level builds trust and comfort on such a big day in peoples lives. This gift is not overlooked and we are thankful everyday for what many strive for, but few can ever fully reach with your talent of genuine connectivity.
It is the simple things that truly made an impact on us.
The hugs as we welcomed you to our venue.
The way you interacted with our family and friends.
Your calm and understanding approach.
Your ability to gather.
Your attention to legacy.
And your common love for an important charity in Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
Thank you Sam.  Thank you for everything you brought to the table as a remarkable human being.  The photos – we will cherish forever, but even more so, we will never forget YOU.  It’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know you better over the last couple years and we look forward to a continued friendship and possibly a few more high end whiskeys.
Tons of love from the Hare Family,
Ashley & Jonathan
04. Do you have any limits on coverage time on the wedding day?

I’m yours whenever you need me throughout the day.

05. Where will you travel?

Anywhere. I’ve photographed weddings in the Bahamas, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Mexico, France, Brazil, New Zealand and taught workshops in Chile, Brazil, Australia, and the UK. Don’t let distance cause you to hesitate one bit.

06. How do we book & pay?

After we setup a meeting in person or phone call you’ll receive a custom payment portal online where you can sign the contract and make the deposit and final payment via credit card. I also take checks if you prefer.

07. How many photos do we get?

I typically deliver 700 images per wedding.

08. Are all of our photos edited?

Yup. All of them. Color and exposure will be exactly as I intend them to be.

09. Do you blog every wedding?

I really do try to, but often fall behind on blogging. If I don’t blog it’s only because I’m working hard on delivering full galleries as quickly as possible!

10. Do you provide a print and distribution release?

Absolutely. You can print your photos wherever you want and you can distribute them around the internet too (facebook, e-mail, twitter, etc). I also provide prints from my professional print lab if you want them done well.

11. What do we get in our online gallery?

Fully processed, edited, and downloadable printable high resolution jpeg images.

12. Do you take wedding day family group portraits?

Of course. I truly love these.

13. Can my uncle take photos during my wedding?

He sure can… as long as he stays out of my cross hairs. I do offer a discount for “unplugged” weddings.

14. Do you have insurance?

Sure do. Let me know if your venue needs my info.

15. What equipment do you use?

I talk about my process and techniques ongoing over at patreon.com/samhurd

16. Is this your real job?

Yup. I’ve been working professionally as a photographer since 2008 and shooting weddings since 2010. I’ve photographed over 250 weddings.

17. I’m a photographer... can I shoot with you sometime?

Only if you bring your A game.

18. I heard you also play in a band. Is this true?

Yes. Prisms. Listen here.

19. One more thing. Did you really have the freshest coke of your life with the Cola-Cola CEO after photographing him?

It. Was. Indescribable.
